Summer Hot Air Balloons Card

Summer Hot Air Balloons Card

Happy Summertime and Sunshine! It is almost time for the Balloon festival here in Idaho!

My family went to the Annual Teton Valley Balloon Rally held in July when I was a little girl. Seeing all those hot air balloons in the sky is a memory that has been burned in my mind all these years. It is a spectacular sight! Hot air balloons have always amazed me! They are so beautiful. Forever summer time, right there!

Today I was feeling inspired by the balloon festival and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog's theme: Summer Fun! As you all know I love to watercolor... so wanting to get a little watercoloring in as well I decided to do a little mixed media card with paper and watercolor balloons.

For this quick little project, I used a teal cardstock for the card base cut to make a 4" x 6" card. I cut and tore pieces of paper from my Stamperia paper scrap collection (I am a big fan of using what you have to make it work). I painted the balloons on 140 lb watercolor paper, I used Let's Make Art liquid watercolor paints (I used red, dandelion yellow and Tahoe blue), black fine liner pen and used the hot air balloon tutorial as a guide for my balloons. Once dry, I cut out the balloons. I adhered the balloons to the card.

For the inside of the card I cut white cardstock to make an insert. I took a strip of paper from the front of the card and cut it to match the size of the insert and glued it down. Using a blending brush and speckled egg and mermaid lagoon Tim Holtz Distress inks, I brushed the inside and the outside of the card.

I found a little saying from Tim Holtz's idea-ology METALLIC Sticker Book found on Simon Says Stamp that fit the card perfectly.

That's it! Simple, easy, took under 30 minutes to make! Here are some pictures of the card...

Happy Summer vibes to you all! I hope you feel inspired to create something that represents summer vibes and fun! Create something that reminds of you a summer memory!
