Apple, Seeds, & Stripes

Apple, Seeds, & Stripes

Happy Fourth of July, everyone! Let's do a fun take on a Red, White, Blue and Stars and Stripes themed card.

With the wonderfully long holiday weekend, I was able to get a few cards done!  Inspired by Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog's theme: Add Some red/white/ and/or Blue and Wednesday Challenge Theme: Stars and Stripes, and LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 176 – FUN WITH FOOD. So I decided to make a fun little card featuring a big bright red apple with blue stripes and seed "stars".

Here is the card:

it was a super fun card to make! I got to use lots of different techniques and really show some mixed media card making.

I chose to use a 5" x 7" in a brown color cardstock as the base for the card.
I had a larger piece of scrap watercolor paper, 140 lb. cold pressed, that I used to put the blue stripes and seeds on since it was a heavier paper and would hold up to stencil butters.

I used a seed and painting stripes stencils from my personal stencil collection, I can't remember when I got them and who I got them from.

I also used the water color paper to stamp the apple on. The apple is from the Tim Holtz Schoolhouse Blueprints collection.

I colored the Apple with Tim Holtz Watercolor Distress Pencils

I cut strips of paper from the Lawn Fawn Fruit Salad Paper Collection, to add to the sides of the card and to place behind the apple.

I used Tim Holtz distress ink "barn door" and a blending brush to brush the edges to give it that touch of red to make the apple pop out more.

I also used the barn door distress ink, the stencil butter, and seed stencil for the inside of the card to tie it all together.

Once all the pieces were done, I was ready to assemble the card.

And that's it...
A super fun card inspired by a few of fun challenges!

I hope you Feel inspired to create something, even if it only takes 5 minutes!
