Moody Forest Watercolor Painting in Orange, Brown, & Gold

Moody Forest Watercolor Painting in Orange, Brown, & Gold

Hello everyone!   March has indeed come in like a Lion in southeastern Idaho. Lots of snow and rain... hoping for sunnier days ahead. But with all this snow, its a good reason to craft! PLUS its National Crafting Month! Hope you make some time to craft this March!

I got some more time to watercolor this week and I tried a couple new techniques that were fun to play with. On this painting I used a jar with paint on the rim! It was so much fun, and very similar the the atmospheric paintings I have done in the past just with a shape!

I really enjoyed how this painting turned out... it transports me to a forest in the fall, a bit of Halloween, Ghost stories, spooky forest... perhaps a little Ichabod Crane & the Headless Horseman vibe? I love how paintings take on a life of their own in these atmospheric paintings.

I also did a video which is below! You can also view the video and others on our YouTube Channel

Here is the painting:

I used:

  • Watercolor paints - Various Colors
  • Dr. Phil Martin's Bleed Proof White
  • 140 lb. Watercolor Paper
  • Watercolor bushes- various sizes and types
  • Sea Salt

Here are some more photos to show some close-up details of the Painting:

So, when you're riding home tonight,

make for the bridge with all your might.

He'll be down in the Hollow there.

He needs your head.

Look out! Beware!"
